A Christmas Story: The Photo Backdrop
Do you ever find yourself reflecting on the past at Christmas time? Maybe it’s the time we both spent in theater productions of “A Christmas Carol” but we seem to take note each year of what we might learn from our “Ghosts of Christmases Past.”
This year Curt’s past and present collided when he was asked to illustrate a photo backdrop for Pioneer Theatre Company’s production of “A Christmas Story: The Musical.”
The reason I bring up the past is because before we created Cut Paste Celebrate, Curt was a student at Brigham Young University studying scenic and costume design. During his time at BYU he worked in all aspects of theater! Acting (award winning acting), stage management, props, costumes and his favorite: set design (which was also award winning). As a newly married couple I loved watching his process of his doodles turn into huge set pieces that graced the stages of the Pardoe Theatre and Margett’s Black Box Theatre. It was one of those “it was fun while it lasted” experiences, because after graduation he focused more on a desk job and providing for his family.
He’s always been a creative one and fortunately didn’t let the corporate world take the artist out of him. We just celebrated his 3 year anniversary of working from home and finally providing for his family by doing what he loves! Also, we’re so used to his paper crafting and printables projects, that are more on the small side. That’s why it was so fun for all of us to have this opportunity to see his work life size!
We were invited to a preview of “A Christmas Story: The Musical” and the opportunity to see his incredible artistic skills in a theater again. Yes, it’s in the lobby, but you get what I mean! As an artist it’s fun to see where the next project is going to take you. So again I reflect on the “Ghosts of Christmases” and hope that we can see even more exciting opportunities like this in our future!
We can also see in your future that you’re probably not quite through your gift list and the thought of wrapping gifts isn’t even scheduled. So, we’ve made it easy. Purchase our printable “Fra-gee-lay Bag & Tag Set.” Your friends will think they’ve won “A Major Award” when they receive a present in this festive set reminiscent of the Christmas classic: “A Christmas Story.”
